About the area
Southern Wyoming is a great place to live, work and raise a family. It is well known for its abundant wildlife and unlimited outdoor recreation, including fishing and floating the Upper North Platte River and Encampment River, hiking, mountain biking, camping, hunting, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing in the nearby Snowy Range and Sierra Madre mountains of the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest.
The small towns of Saratoga, Encampment, Riverside, Wamsutter, Sinclair and the city of Rawlins are unique in their variety of services, industry and entertainment. The larger local industries include: wind energy plants, sawmills, oils and gas exploration, Sinclair Refinery, Wyoming State Penitentiary and the US Forest Service.
